STAFF PROFILE - PORTUGUESE TEACHER
rui ferreira
“I AM DEDICATED TO CREATING A DYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT WHERE LANGUAGE LEARNING FEELS ACCESSIBLE, MEANINGFUL, AND ENGAGING FOR EVERY STUDENT .”
Originally from Portugal, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and Humanities with a major in Translation and a Master’s degree in Portuguese as a Foreign and Second Language from the University of Lisbon. Over the course of my career, I have taught English within the Portuguese national curriculum and spent time teaching internationally, including serving as a Portuguese Assistant Professor in a University in the United States and working with students in China. Most recently, I have gained extensive experience teaching Portuguese in international school settings in Portugal.
I chose to become a teacher out of a deep passion for language acquisition and cross-cultural communication. Driven by the belief that language is a powerful tool for connection, I want to dedicate my career to helping diverse groups of students bridge linguistic and cultural gaps. I am a true language enthusiast, and dedicated to understanding other cultures first hand includes studying Mandarin and living in Tianjin for six month.
What I love most about teaching is inspiring a genuine love for languages and watching my students grow in confidence as they learn to express themselves. I thoroughly enjoys bringing cultural elements into my lessons, particularly through my interests in poetry and the diverse cultures that express themselves in Portuguese. I am dedicated to creating a dynamic environment where language learning feels accessible, meaningful, and engaging for every student.
