STAFF PROFILE - ADMISSIONS OFFICER
Marta Cordingley
“I PARTICULARLY ENJOY MEETING PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS AND FAMILIES, LEARNING ABOUT THEIR ASPIRATIONS, AND UNDERSTANDING WHAT THEY HOPE TO GAIN FROM AND CONTRIBUTE TO OUR COMMUNITY.”
After a degree in English and French and a PGCE in Modern Languages, I began teaching in Secondary Schools in Surrey and Oxfordshire. Family life then brought a move to beautiful Edinburgh, where we lived and worked for 26 years. There, I continued my passion for language teaching, first running a Primary Language club for 10 years, and more recently, as a CELTA-certified EAL teacher, teaching teenagers and adults from diverse backgrounds and at all levels.
Last year, I returned to my city of birth and was delighted to join the Admissions Department at The British School of Lisbon. My role, showcasing this fantastic school, is wonderfully varied. I particularly enjoy meeting prospective students and families, learning about their aspirations, and understanding what they hope to gain from and contribute to our community. It’s a real pleasure to lead tours and witness the excellent teaching and engaged learners.
