STAFF PROFILE - ENGLISH TEACHER

Leon Richards

“I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT ENCOURAGING STUDENTS TO BECOME THE VERY BEST VERSION OF THEMSELVES .

After graduating from the University of Winchester in 2018 with a Combined Honours degree in History and English Literature, I began my journey into education by completing my PGCE at the University of Reading in 2020. Achieving qualified teacher status marked the fulfilment of a long-held ambition to become a teacher. My passion for education began during a work experience placement at my former primary school. The enjoyment I found in working with students throughout that week confirmed my desire to pursue a career in teaching and inspired me to make a positive difference in young people's lives.

Throughout my career, I have held several pastoral leadership roles, including Head of House, Deputy Head of Year, and Lower School Coordinator. These positions have strengthened my commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered.

One of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is watching students develop from hesitant learners into confident, enthusiastic readers and critical thinkers. Seeing their confidence grow and their appreciation of literature deepen is incredibly fulfilling. Above all, I am passionate about encouraging students to become the very best versions of themselves. Whether helping them achieve academic success or supporting their personal development, I take great pride in knowing that I have played a part in shaping their confidence, resilience, and future aspirations.
