I believe that the best education combines academic rigour with enjoyment, curiosity, and strong pastoral support. My approach is to build positive, trust-based relationships with students, parents, and colleagues that are grounded in mutual respect, clear expectations, and a sense of humour. In the classroom, I create a welcoming environment where students of all abilities feel safe to ask challenging questions, take intellectual risks, and develop academic confidence.

I studied Modern European and American History at the University of Warwick, completed my PGCE at the University of Exeter, and later gained my Masters from the London School of Economics. Over the past thirty years, I have taught History, Business Studies and Humanities across Key Stage 3, IGCSE, A Level, and the IB Diploma in schools across the UK, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Having previously taught in Portugal and recently returned from Tokyo, my family and I are delighted to be settling back in Lisbon long term. I chose to become a teacher to help young people connect historical events to contemporary global issues and understand the world around them.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy long-distance hiking, playing squash, cooking, and travelling. Having previously taken beginner Portuguese lessons, I am looking forward to improving my language skills.
