STAFF PROFILE - HEAD OF PRIMARY
Simon Wrafter
“AS A LEADER, I AM GUIDED BY THE NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN IN MY CARE, INSPIRED BY THEIR ENTHUSIASM AND DRIVEN BY AN OPTIMISTIC OUTLOOK”
I strive to make each child’s school experience a happy one, one in which they thrive and grow, and that enables them to realise the wealth of talents and interests they might have.
I have enjoyed a long career as a teacher and been privileged to work in secondary and primary phases, internationally and in the UK, in independent and in maintained schools, and as a teacher and a leader in all of them.
My move to primary education 10 years ago reinvigorated my love of teaching and enabled me to learn a great deal more about how children learn. As a leader, I am guided by the needs of the children in my care, inspired by their enthusiasm and driven by an optimistic outlook. Since 2012 I am lucky to have led two exceptional teams in primary schools in the UK and in Nigeria, prior to joining the British School of Lisbon. They taught me a great deal about ensuring excellence in the classroom, having compassion for every learner and ensuring that children’s wellbeing is central to their development.
ABOUT MR WRAFTER
Living in Lisbon helps me maintain my passion for cycling whilst refreshing my surfing skills, which were somewhat neglected in Nigeria. It also offers many opportunities to access the visual arts I originally trained in and, of course, has a vibrant cultural and culinary scene I like to take advantage of whenever possible too.
