STAFF PROFILE - TEACHER

Maya Sedenu

“ENCOURAGING INDEPENDENCE IN OUR YOUNGEST PUPILS IS AT THE HEART OF MY PRACTICE, AND I LOVE TO SUPPORT CHILDREN TO FORM FRIENDSHIPS, AND DEVELOP A SENSE OF CARE FOR OTHERS AND THE WORLD AROUND THEM.

Prior to beginning my teaching career, I studied Biochemistry at the University of Sheffield. I then completed a master’s degree in Psychology at University College London, and went on to work in adolescent mental health. I have a strong understanding of early childhood development and the importance of holistic, well-rounded growth.

I completed my teacher training in London, specialising in early years education. I have since worked in a variety of nursery settings with children from a diverse range of backgrounds. These experiences have strengthened my belief that the early years are a crucial foundation for lifelong learning and wellbeing. I am passionate about creating an environment for young children that is meaningful and purposeful, and encourages natural curiosity.

Encouraging independence in our youngest pupils is at the heart of my practice, and I love to support children to form friendships, and develop a sense of care for others and the world around them. Seeing children develop confidence, kindness, and discover their own individual strengths is what makes being an early years teacher so rewarding for me.
