STAFF PROFILE - TEACHER

Matilda Hughes

“I AM PASSIONATE ABOUT CREATING A NURTURING AND INCLUSIVE CLASSROOM WHERE EVERY CHILD FEELS VALUED, CONFIDENT, AND EXCITED TO LEARN”

I am passionate about creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom where every child feels valued, confident, and excited to learn. My teaching approach has always centred on the whole child - supporting not only academic progress, but also emotional and social growth.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in inclusion, curiosity, and care. I believe that learning should be joyful, purposeful, and empowering, and I work hard to build an environment where each child feels confident to take risks, make mistakes, and celebrate their progress. Whether I am helping students crack a tricky maths concept or discover a new favourite author, I aim to support every learner in becoming resilient, reflective, and ready for the world.

ABOUT MS HUGHES

I grew up in a small village near Cambridge and studied Linguistics at UCL before deciding that I wanted to become a teacher. For almost 10 years, I have taught in and around London before making the decision to move to Lisbon for a new adventure. I love the city's energy and culture (and food!) and with my love of wild swimming and reading, Lisbon’s beaches and bookshops have been the perfect fit.
